How Watkins Photography Wins Corporate Event Clients
Summary
John describes how he earns corporate event clients, and notably says he does not really try to convince anyone of anything. Instead, he lets his current portfolio and the body of work on his website speak for itself. What he does prioritize is responsiveness: he replies to any inquiry within 24 hours, which he points out is often the hardest thing to get in a corporate setting where people struggle to respond promptly. Once engaged, he tailors his service to exactly what the client wants, delivering both photos and video. That includes posed group shots where people are together, as well as candid coverage where he moves around discreetly with zoom lenses. By covering everything a client could want and being easy to reach, he makes businesses want to work with him.
Answer
How would I convince some sort of corporate entity to hire me to cover their corporate events? The short answer is I don’t really try to convince anybody of anything. I just let my current portfolio and all the work that I have on my website speak for me. Generally, when someone reaches out to me, I always respond within 24 hours to any inquiry they may have about any event or special thing that’s going on. Because getting people to actually respond to you in a corporate situation is sometimes the hardest thing to do. Then I cater my service to exactly what they want, with photos or videos. I get portraits and posed stuff where people are all together with each other, and I also do candid stuff, I wander around and do creepy things with zoom lenses. So we get everything covered that any client would want. And that’s what makes people want to work with me.
